Saab sold!

Now that we had taken everything we could think we might need from the Saab, it was time to get rid of the Saab 900. Seems that there is quite a lot of competition to pick up scrap cars, lots of people in the paper offering money for picking them up. I got £140 for what was left of the Saab 900 and they came and collected it! Which was great! Considering it had no engine and I only bought it for £300.

I think I could perhaps have got some money for the Sierra too, though it had no wheels so didn't roll so I was just happy for someone to take it for free, but maybe could have got a bit of money. Oh well, the power of hind sight! If anyone else is planning to scrap a car, its prob worth having a look around to see if you can get some money for it...

How quickly things change!

Well, after my earlier post saying that we hoped to pick up the kit this weekend, it turns out it won't be ready in time, so we'll have to wait another week unfortunately.

Waiting

So we have been waiting for the kit to be ready for a little while now. Over the last couple of weeks we have done a few odds and ends on the Saab, removing all of the wiring we could get out, just in case we need it. Also removed the intercooler and one of the ABS sensors which apparently is used for speed sensing for the engine.

It looks like the kit will be ready to collect at the weekend now though, so planning to hire a van and head up to collect it on saturday, exciting stuff!

ICE

Just another little bit of info, Nick discovered that we are likely to need another box from the car, much likely the ECU, but called the ICE module. Found this deeper under the drivers side dash, had to remove a few things to get to it, it was just to the right of the steering column.

We are now debating how much of the wiring we will actually need, difficult to know what we will end up needing to get the engine working and what we won't. There is a forest of wires in the saab! Hopefully we will get everything we need, but if not, most parts seem to be on ebay.

We also got hold of the manifold from a saab 9000 to replace the manifold on our saab 900 engine. The manifold from the 9000 is more compact and to the side, as opposed to the 900 manifold which sticks up above the rest of engine, and would therefore likely be a problem for fitting the engine under the Zero bonnet.
