So after a weekend off kit car work for a stag do in edinburgh I got down to working hard on the car over the weekend. Still nothing attached to the chassis though!
I've prepped and painted the back plates for the rear discs, same with the front caliper carriers to go with the shiny new calipers I've got. Cleaned up the diff ready to put in, but haven't painted that as it looks fairly good as its aluminium rather than rusty steel.
The majority of the weekend was taken up with sanding out the insides of all the wishbones ready for the bushes to be put in. The bushes are definitely an interference fit! Very hard work getting them in even with a vince to push them in! I was about 2/3rds done before my arm got too knackered to do any more! So they are next on the list to finish. Maybe can then get something attached to the car.
Lots of other purchases too ready for installation on the car, so many little bits to get in addition to the kit! e.g. for the fuel system:
Low pressure fuel pump
Swirl pot
High pressure fuel pump
Some 8mm pipe
P clips to hold the pipe
Plus I'm sure we will end up needing lots of parts for joining pipes together in places.
Also bought a sierra master cylinder off ebay as we forgot / didn't realise we needed to get that from the donor car. Hope we don't find too many more things like that!
The boots on the driveshafts have seen better days too, so am going to replace them too.
Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me to take some photos of all the bits and pieces we've got ready now, but I'll make sure to get some as they go into the chassis. Hopefully some more good progress over the easter weekend - should be able to get the diff in and start attaching some of the wishbones. With a break for the kit car show in kent at some point over the weekend. Hopefully I can buy some seats off the GBS guys at the show too, as i quite liked the seats when I sat in them when picking up the kit and they are very reasonably priced when you look at other options.

Trestles
Been busy on the car over the weekend. Lots of planning for the tasks to do on the car - will put the list on here soon for you to see.
Nick and I also finished the second trestle, so the car is now up on them, giving us space underneath to keep all the car parts - so we can work around the car now!
I've been de-rusting some of the old sierra parts - lots of elbow grease! Plus some rust eating gel etc. Still not finished tho.
Made some decisions on the brakes - going to be keeping the drums on the back, as putting discs on is just going to be an expense and not going to affect how it drives much - its more cosmetic. I've also been buying lots of the discs / pads / drums / shoes etc for the brakes - which will be one of the first things we will fit to the car.
Hope to get some pics up soon along with the list of tasks and some idea of all the extra little bits we need to buy that hadn't thought of before hand - so hopefully others can plan in advance.

Collection Day!!!
We hired a LWB Transit and drove up to GBS today to collect the Zero kit. Seemed fitting that the sun came out to, the M25 had no traffic, and for once it wasn't freezing cold!
Anyway, a quick stop off first to pick up the Omega Gearbox courtesy of ebay. Smaller than we thought and lighter than the Type 9 thanks to being all alloy. Came with hydraulic clutch cylinder too which helps.
Our chassis on its trolley.
Loading up the Transit.
Some other cars there when we got there, useful to take pictures of certain areas for reference later. The GBS guys gave us loads of tipe which we promptly forgot.
We ticked everything off while loading up, there's so many parts that come with the kit. GBS had very nicely given us orange harnesses to go with the orange GRP.
Top tip - get some pipe lagging to protect things (for 22mm pipe, about 60p a length from B&Q), cheap, easy to cut and stays on by itself.
Over the weekend, having recovered from a slight hangover, I knocked up a pair of trestles to put the chassis on.
P.S. its not a wide angle lens making it look wonky, it is actually wonky :-) sturdy though.
